The Bits, Bytes 'N Nibbles column about computer basics, debuts in the Society newsletter. It continues monthly (with the exception of September 2002) until the final column in October 2002. I suspect much of it was over the head of most members. My long and intimate association with computers made it all too easy to assume a level of knowledge that simply wasn't there.
The Society's original Constitution and By-Laws, from August of 1998 are published in the Society newsletter. Note: As of today (March 2020), it is still in effect (with two amendments). It is available on our web site, both as a viewable web page and as a down loadable PDF file.

A new name is adopted for the Society newsletter. It is now called "The Skint Chestnut Logs - A Journal of the Douglas County Genealogical Society."
The name is a homage to the original name of the community where we are head quartered, which was known as Skint Chestnut. It was later incorporated as Douglasville, and serves as the county seat. The new name for the newsletter was adopted unilaterally, without a member vote, by the editors (Marcia Atkins and Irene Jackson). Prior to this it was known simply as the "Douglas County Genealogy Newsletter," which was a not so imaginative and rather boring name. The new name seems to have caught on, as there were no objections and, actually, some praise. It remains in use, and probably will do so as long as the newsletter exists.
