September Saturdays - 2021

For whatever reasons, the Board of Directors elected NOT to participate in the September Saturdays event this year.  Whether our participation will resume in the future is unknown at this time.  It was always great fun.

However, if it does resume in the near future, I may well be unable to resume the photo documentation.  Why, you ask?  Well, since the last outing, I have stopped smoking and undergone several surgeries, including a triple by-pass, removal of a carotid artery blockage and replacement of my failing left knee.  To be honest, I am feeling better than I have in several years.

It's official!  2020 was officially our last year of participation, even though the actual activities were cancelled by the covid pandemic.  At the August 2022 meeting, it was decided that we would no longer participate in the September Saturday Festivities.  Having found it to be of no particular benefit to the Society, and in the face of steadily increasing expenses (booth fees reaching $75.00 per day for 2022), as well as the member time and effort required to set up, operate, tear down and clean up, the decision was easy.

And it's just as well.  The Webmaster would not have been able to document it.  He was there for all but one of the events documented here, missing ot because of a family reunion scheduled on the same day - the first Saturday of the Festival.

I was appointed Webmaster in November 2010, which is when I assumed the duty of creating photographic documentation of society activities.  As my family reunion is always held in September (but usually early in the month), I am guessing the missing photographs from 2011 and 2012 were due to Festival dates managing to, somehow, coincide with the reunion.

I have no clue about the years 2007 through 2010.  But, since no photographs of the missing years have surfaced (despite multiple entreaties) I can only assume no other member was both equipped and willing to step up.

The city apparently intends to continue holding the festival every September, for the indefinite future.  So it appears there will be plenty of opportunities to attend and see what it is all about.  But first look over our previous September Saturdays event documentation so you have some idea what you're getting into.
